State of the Art Shrimp Farming
The way we farm our shrimps is completely different. The culture ponds of The Sustainable Shrimp™ are state-of-the art. You might be surprised to hear but shrimps are very sensitive; when they are under stress, diseases occur easily. We have designed a system whereby the water temperature is very stable and its quality is as good as drinking water apart from being salty. The ponds are all covered to keep birds away from shrimp and water. A current is intentionally created in the pond to give the shrimps a bit of a workout to get their food, and this results in a better tasting shrimp with firm textured meat.

Recirculating Aquaculture Systems
At The Sustainable Shrimp™, we take shrimp farming to the next level by using our experience from farming fish in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems, or in short, RAS. RAS are closed systems where the water is constantly filtrated by sand, UV and ozone. The water also goes through a massive biofilter that takes out ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, and oxygen is added to complete the nitrification of the water. These low-cost, natural and safe filtration systems effectively prevent waste, heavy metals, bacteria and viruses from contaminating the water, thus ensuring healthy, chemical-free and tasty shrimp.

What goes in, must come out!
There is a saying, “What goes in must come out.” This is all well and good, but in the shrimp industry, this can be a problem. A lot of shrimp farmers take water out of the ocean and dump it back again with all the shrimp faeces and chemicals included. However, with the state-of-the- art filtration system at The Sustainable Shrimp™, whatever little amount of water discharged back to the ocean is, in fact, of better quality than the water we took out from it initially!
